Anyway, I popped in to read her blog while we were on vacation and I posted a comment to enter the mixer giveaway. I never dreamed I’d win one. That kind of luck has always eluded me. When we got home the next weekend, I checked my e-mail and was stunned to see a message from a fellow PW reader saying, “Congratulations on winning the mixer!” WHAT!?!?! I immediately went to the Pioneer Woman website to check, and sure enough…there was my entry listed as a winner. Holy cow. I feel like I’ve won the lottery! I’ve looked at these KitchenAid stand mixers for YEARS, but would never spend that kind of money on one. It really is a dream come true. First the German Christmas Markets and now this. I do believe my luck is changing! I have to say “THANK YOU” to Ree Drummond, and to Lindy, her prize coordinator. I absolutely love my new mixer. And I love that they allowed me to trade the red color for this beautiful silver. Why? Because it matches my stainless steel appliances perfectly, and I’m all about coordinating colors.
So far, this has been a great week. I finished my Christmas shopping, I sent out my Christmas cards today, I won a gorgeous mixer, I had dinner with my awesome friends Monday night (thanks, ladies!), and, oh yeah….I posted a story about three of the travel show hosts we watch on PBS that inspired our trip to Germany for the Christmas Markets, and one of them commented on my blog! GET OUT!!! It’s true. Joseph Rosendo from Travelscope read my story and commented on it. That’s so totally cool of him, and just one more reason why he’s one of my travel heroes. I’m telling you, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world this week, and I’m very, very grateful.
OMG, it looks like it was made for your kitchen… Can’t wait to hear about all of the goodies you’ll make!!!
I know! I don’t think it could be any more perfect. I love, LOVE, LUV, heart it.
It’s gorgeous!! I love mine, you will enjoy it!!
Right now, I’m enjoying staring at it and pinching myself. Later today, I’m going to break it in making Christmas goodies. Can’t wait!
Wow, you are lucky!! Congrats on the mixer!
I have an obsession with PW too, but it’s hard not to with all of the amazing posts she pops out day after day like it aint no thang.
Hey, Mads! It’s nice to know that I’m not alone in my obsession with PW. In fact, I think we have LOTS of very good company! Thanks for dropping in and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it. Happy holidays! -NB
Mmm, I love that silvery color! It’s beautiful. I got an electric blue mixer yesterday from the PW (I was one of the winners of her Holiday Baking Giveaway about a month ago and got to visit the ranch–gorgeous and fun!) but I already have a regular white mixer from years ago that works just fine, so I’m giving this new one to a friend. I’ll have to let her know that she can exchange it for a different color.
Congrats on winning one of the mixers! Given that PW gets about 80,000 entries for those contests, it seems like a miracle when you are chosen. I arranged to swap colors when I sent in my personal info to claim the prize. I just happened to click on the mixer link in PW’s post, and saw that it was available in that pretty sugared pearl silver. They didn’t flinch; just said “sure” when I asked if I could trade colors. Lindy the prize lady was very accomodating. I loved the red, but the silver looks perfect sitting there with all my stainless appliances. Like it was made just for me. I checked out your blog. It’s awesome! I really enjoyed the story of your Thanksgiving with your beautiful sisters. I have 4 myself, so I could relate. I also loved your tales from PW’s cookie weekend (you lucky dog)! I saw the photos on PW’s site, but loved getting your take on the weekend. Great photos. I’m looking forward to reading more of your blog very soon. Thanks for dropping in!
I came upon your blog (bookmarked, TYVM) when checking out Tasty Kitchen! I love hearing about someone winning a mixer! I have been entering PW’s contests for a LONG time now and haven’t won, yet (I’m gunning for a camera)!
I’ll be making your version of PW’s Pistachio Cake for the office next month (we are all recovering from the calorie-laden holidays right now and I’d probably be forked to death if I brought in another treat I made from her website!). LOVE coconut!
Uh..uh…uh…I just read Jenna’s comment. I am GREEN with envy! Congrats to both of you!
Hang in there, KJ, and keep supporting The Pioneer Woman’s website. I’ll shrivel up and die if she ever stops writing! And keep entering her contests. I never thought in a million years I’d actually win anything, but I did and I have a shiny new mixer to prove it. As my husband likes to say, “sometimes, even a blind squirrel finds a nut.” What a dork. Hope you love the coconut cake. I sure did!
Tell your hubby that that blind squirrel uses all his other senses to make up for what he does not have in order to gain what he needs! Go NanaBread!
Thanks, Patti Meg! I’ll tell him you said so!
