The kids came to visit this weekend. Nothing is better than time with our kids. Lilly Bug is now 17 months old. She’s such a bubbly, sweet little pixie. She wakes up happy and the rest of the day just gets better from there. She’s a little chatter box, and is just starting to put together a few full sentences. Her vocabulary is expanding at an alarming rate. She laughs at everything, sings at the drop of the hat, and thanks to Jonah Bear’s toy harmonica, she learned to play hobo songs about life riding the rails with her Papi (The Complete Package). I love those curls.
Jonah bear turned four just before Christmas. That blows my mind. Where does the time go? He’s not a baby or a toddler anymore. Our first grand baby is a boy now, and his ability to think at such a strategic level amazes us. He’s a deep thinker and problem solver, and yet he’s also a sweet, compassionate soul. He is a boy who knows what he wants, and this weekend he wanted blueberry pancakes and fruity push-up popsicles. I love his sweet boy hugs & his big, beautiful brain.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a family weekend without My Baby and Bama Boy. We ate too much, we played Scrabble, we shared popcorn & ice cream while we watched Megamind. It was awesome. But my favorite thing was watching Jonah Bear’s face light up when he mastered the pedals on My Baby’s old bike with all of us out there cheering him on. It was one of those priceless family moments.
Speaking of priceless family moments… Sorry, honey. Mommy loves you.

They are precious. Your baby too! Thanks for sharing. Pat
Thanks, Pat. You know it’s a good weekend when your cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing, but you cry when they leave.
So, so sweet! Wonderful memories in the making. Love it!
Thanks, KJ. They’re growing up so fast. Faster than I want them to, for sure. It’s exciting to watch them grow and change, I just wish they would slow down a little!
Awww! What sweet pictures and fun memories. The curls on that little girl are so adorable!!! She’s the same age as L., but has so much more hair. It’s always a fun day when kids master riding a bike and I love that last picture of your daughter!
Those curls are just too cute. I had the same curls when I was little, so My Baby calls her my “mini-me.” I loved the last photo, too. It made TCP and I laugh out loud. She’s a good sport, and has a great sense of humor.
Oh my goodness–their eyes are so beautiful! I love those sweet little blond curls, too. My MIL has curly hair, and I kept hoping that *one* of my boys would get curls. No such luck. Family time is awesome. We are taking the gang to my parents’ house this weekend. We’ll do all of the same stuff you did, but we will be bundled in winter gear. I’m starting to long for bare foot weather. ;)
Wish I could share our Houston weather with you for the weekend. It has been in the low 70’s and sunny all week. It’s glorious! I’m opening the windows and airing out the house today. Is it just me, or does the weather over the past 2 months seem a little bizarre? We set a record for most low temperature days in a row just weeks ago, and now we’re setting a record for most warm days in a row. Is anyone else wondering what the heck is going on? {I can just picture Al Gore pulling his hair out and screaming, “How many times do I have to say it!!!”}
Oh, Al. We should have listened while we had the chance. The weather here has been a little off kilter, too. We had a record warm week–one day even reached 60 degrees, which is completely unheard of in February in N. MI. That warm up was just enough to get me pining for the day that I can air out the house. Except after a MI winter, I’ll do it once we get close to 60 degrees, and I’ll be driving with the wind in my hair and sunroof open! It’s about then that the boys start begging to go swim at the beach, and I have to remind them that the Bay had a thick layer of ice on it a few days prior. ;)
