1. Down here in South Hades (Houston, TX), it’s just too dadgum hot to wear PJ pants year round. That’s why I look forward to cold weather, when the highs dip below 98F, the humidity drops below 140% and there’s a not-so-blistering-as-usual breeze in the air. We’re not there yet, but we’re getting closer. Close enough to make me break out the PJ pants collection and get them ready.
2. I’d wear pajama pants all day long if I could get away with it at the doctor’s office or grocery store or the post office. You laugh, but I’ve actually seen people wearing them out in public. Did they forget or something?
3. I don’t know why, but I don’t really go for the PJ tops. Buying the full set is a waste of money for me. I prefer to wear PJ pants with t-shirts. It’s more comfortable. Or maybe it’s that I’m menopausal and sleeping in a flannel shirt with night sweats would make me crazy enough to kill someone (unintentionally, of course).
4. My collection includes both flannel and cotton PJ pants. It’s like the old party conundrum – “black tie” or “business casual”? I like to wear the lightweight cotton pants when it’s cool, and the flannel for special occasions. And by special occasions, I mean Christmas. My Baby (my beautiful daughter) and I started buying matching PJ pants to wear on Christmas morning when she was in high school. That was 10 years ago, and we still try to buy them each year. I love family holiday traditions.
5. I seem to have more than my fair share of Nick & Nora PJ’s from my favorite store, Suuupah Target. I especially love their sock monkey PJ’s, but I also have a super cute pair with snow globes from the 50 states on them. Another favorite pair has girly lingerie on hangers and clotheslines. Love them!
6. What would a pair of pajama pants in the winter be without fuzzy socks? My favorites are the ones made by the “Life is Good” people. They’re cuddly, fuzzy perfection. I also love this sweet pink pair with the fuzzy bunny cuffs. So cute, and so toasty warm. They’re like a hug for your feet from someone you love.
7. A word of caution: don’t wear fuzzy socks when you’re carrying your over-loaded laundry basket down the stairs (lesson learned the hard way) and don’t chase your dog on wood floors with your fuzzy socks on, or you’ll be singing “Wipe Out!” in your sleep.
8. Don’t mix fuzzy socks and polar fleece blankets. They tend to stick together, and you run the risk of getting tangled up when you try to run for the bathroom during television commercial breaks. Not to mention the fact that you’ll get popped with static electricity. Personally, I think it would be a hoot to rub a polar fleece blanket on your head and then walk into a room and say “Honey, the pregnancy test came out positive!” That seems pretty dang funny when you’re 47 and menopausal.
Happy fall, y’all! I hope you have a season filled with punkins, cool weather, crisp apples, homemade soups and stews, and comfortable pajama pants with fuzzy socks. I don’t think there’s anything better this time of year!
So, what, you have a different pair for every day of the month?? You have more than just a couple of obsessions, don’t you??!!!
I, in fact, do NOT have enough for each day of the month, but I do have about 15 pairs of pajama pants. So that’s half a month. If I buy any more, I’m going to have to empty another drawer in my dresser to hold them all. Let’s see….I’m not giving up my sock drawer….or my skivvies drawer….or my t-shirt drawer….guess I’ll have to stop wearing shorts. Done! And one man’s obsession is another man’s collection. I like to think of myself as a collector.
Oooh. Those pink sock monkey ones are so cute!
I love pajama pants, but I rarely buy them because they shrink and then they are high-water pants on me (I’m 5’10). I do purchase those fuzzy socks, though and you’re right…they should come with a warning label! I’ve slipped a few times on my kitchen floor!
Kandi, If I were a gorgeous Amazon woman like you, I’d be wearing Victoria’s Secret. But that’s no excuse not to have cute pajama pants. I say buy them on sale, cut them off and make cute pajama shorts. There! Problem solved. You could be wearing pink sock monkeys by the weekend! I wonder if Nick & Nora make cute camel PJ’s? Heeheesnortgiggleguffaw!
I have the sock monkey pants too! I love pj pants…and I’m like you, don’t bother with the pj tops. I live in my favorite t-shirt that reads, “Entertain me, I’m bored.” It’s green and ugly and comfy and I love it!

Ooooo…I need that t-shirt! The Complete Package would just shake his head at me, especially since I’m funemployed. He’s been on me for a week to throw out my favorite navy blue Houston Texans football t-shirt. I’m not exagerating when I say all the hemmed parts have 1/2″ tears all the way around, and you could stuff a small chicken through the hole under my left arm. It’s a mess, but it’s the softest most comfortable t-shirt I own. Besides, I only sleep in it (sexy, right?). I’m going to cry when he burns it on the charcoal grill.
oh my. this post really speaks to me!! I, too, am in love with my pj pants. Most especially cuz when those come out, the razor goes bye-bye. Hey, I need all the warmth I can get in the winter time!! :) I also have this gosh-awful ratty big black t-shirt that I even used as a paint shirt once.. it has paint dabs on it, holes in various places, a few bleach spots, and one arm hem is a bit dangly and lately has caught me on the door handles and yanked me back more than once. Comical in it’s own right, don’tcha think? :) And amazingly, my bf actually thinks it’s sexy. Who knew that’s all it took!?! lol
I used to have lots of pj pants, but my 13yo daughter has recently realized how comfy MY pj pants are… and they’ve been slowly disappearing. Now that the holidays are over and items are on clearance.. I think it’s high time for a pj pants shopping spree!! I especially love the snowglobe pair. Those are SO cute!!

Yeah, I have a few shirts like that. I think we all do. I’m afraid I’ll accidently wear it outside to grab the mail or newspaper and my neighbors will point and ridicule me. One shirt I love has a rip across the back big enough to put a skillet through it. It’s really atrocious, but so comfortable and well-worn that I can’t stand to part with it. If you’re going PJ Pants shopping, I recommend Target and Old Navy. That’s where most of mine are from. The snowglobes are from Target. Wore them just last night! And don’t be afraid to check out the men’s department for PJ pants, either. They have great ones. Just try them on first to get the right size. Happy shopping!!
We must not have met when this post came out, but one of your readers clicked on my blog from this page, so I had to check it out. I am *dying* looking at your pj collection. Mostly because I own the same pink striped Life is Good socks and blue plaid pair of pants. Those Nick & Nora’s with the cow in the snowglobe are freakin’ awesome! I needs me a pair of those.
