The Complete Package and I just got back from an awesome 16-day trip. I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming week, but first I need a shower, a good night’s sleep, some Boston Terrier lovin’ and a large pot of really good coffee. Until then, I’ll leave you with this. We went somewhere I’ve never been before
and saw beautiful places and remarkable things I’ve always wanted to see
and did a little shopping and lots of walking and sight-seeing while we were there.
Any guesses? (And yes, family members and close friends, you are exempt from guessing.) I can’t wait to tell you all about it, but right this very minute I’m jet-lagged, blurry-eyed, & a little funky from a long plane ride. We’ve been up for 22 straight hours, and all I can focus on is my tempurpedic mattress. I’ll admit I’m a little depressed that we missed Thanksgiving with our families, but it was worth it…just this once. I hope yours was filled with family, friends and fabulous food.

Thanks! We had a great time, but it’s good to be back. I missed seeing all of you for Thanksgiving. This is the first time we’ve ever missed our annual family Thanxmas gathering. It was weird. You know what else is weird? Being in a foreign country for a major holiday and eating a hot dog instead of turkey and dressing (which I am craving, by the way). Hope you talked about me behind my back. It’s what I would have done (wink)!

Oooooo….very good, Katie O. Ten days of our trip were indeed spent in the Netherlands. But that is NOT where these photos were taken. And yes, it appears I did win one of the KitchenAid mixers over at the Pioneer Woman’s website. I’m still waiting to hear back from them. I never win anything and I’ve always wanted one of these, so I’m very, very excited!

Words can’t express how excited and stunned I was to win that KitchenAid mixer from The Pioneer Woman’s website. I’ve wanted one of those for years, but would never spend the money on one. Sometimes dreams really do come true. I can’t wait to get it and start using it. Perhaps in time for baking Christmas cookies….
I’m thinking you are at a German Christmas Market in either Germany or in the Alsace region of France. The first picture looked like Colmar. But there are stunning villages all along the countryside, so I can’t be sure.

Oh, you are good…and you are also correct! The photos were taken at the Christmas Market in Esslingen, Germany. And your instincts were correct on the gluhwein, too! Had to sample it….when in Rome, you know. I discovered that I liked it better with a little Amaretto. I had hoped to make it to Heidelberg for a day (by train), but didn’t get there. It looks like such a beautiful city. We stayed in Stuttgart so we could take in their traditional Christmas Market. We also made two trips to Esslingen for their medieval Christmas Market and spent a day in Ludwigsburg to see the baroque Christmas Market. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. And the snow the last two days didn’t hurt, either. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it!
Alright started at the beginning and have been working my way down this morning and last night. Those Christmas market pictures are AMAZING!! Just picture perfect. I couldn’t imagine living somewhere that every day is like a post card!! Just gorgeous!! I bet that was an awesome trip!!!
I had no idea til just now that it was you that was one of the winners on PW of that mixer! Argh! LOL I have been trying soooooooooooo long!! In a cartoon world you would now be my arch nemesis…but alas, since this is the real world, I’ll just say a heartfelt congrats to you and I hope you make lots and lots of delicious goodies with that beautiful hunk of kitchen wonderfulness!! :)

Thanks – for the congratulations and for not making me your cartoon arch nemesis, even though that would be kind of cool in a cartoon world. I’ve really been enjoying it. The timing couldn’t have been better – just in time for Christmas! I made whipped cream the other night in like 4 seconds. It was awesome!! I love it so very much. I really do. And the trip to the Netherlands and Germany was a dream come true – especially the Christmas markets. I enjoyed every single minute. I think everyone should put it on their “bucket list” of travel dreams. It was so beautiful in Germany, especially at night when all the towns and markets were lit up. Just stunning.
(that would look REALLY awesome in my kitchen too! Just sayin’….) bahaha!
Heyyyyy….get your own mixer! Just kidding. Don’t give up on PW’s website. I never win anything, but I sure as heck got that mixer! There’s always hope.
